Scientific theories are testable and make falsifiable predictions. They describe the causes of a particular natural phenomenon and are used to explain and predict aspects of the physical universe or specific areas of inquiry (for example, electricity, chemistry, and astronomy).

A hypothesis means a theory or a guessed explanation made, based on limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.
Yearly dental visits are a part of good dental hygiene because the dentist will check for cavities, fix them, clean your teeth very thoroughly (or whitening treatment), and check the progress and movement of your teeth.
