Which map is the best to show one continent? Explain.
Zolol [24]

Answer: B

Explanation: The reason for this is that a conic projection is good for lay out of a globe but for acurate viewings it’s the worst and the Mercator projection although is the most common projection it strechs the size of things for example you could say Greenland is around the size of africa but in reality it’s 14 times smaller Therefore the Equal-area projection is the best.

How is Earth’s structure related to the creation of continents, oceans, and mountain ranges?
tigry1 [53]
The topmost layer of the earth (aside from the atmospher) would be the crust. It is made up of tectonic plates that move in different directions. The collisons and abrasions made by these plates sliding and crashing into each other means that mountain ranges pop up like wrinkles, and continents can move around over time. This happens over millions of years.

Which geographic feature was not an obstacle to building a railroad in Kenya?
yawa3891 [41]
The first one, valleys. Rivers had to be built over, no one wanted their farms to be turned into a railroad (or at least those with common sense), and deserts had no water and was really hot during the day and cold at night.

Which of the following are common tectonic settings associated with volcanic activity?Select all that apply.
bagirrra123 [75]

Answer:

Options (A), (B), (C), and (D)

Explanation:

The volcanic activity refers to the eruption of magma at the surface of the ocean floor and continental land areas, forming volcanoes.

Some of the tectonic settings that are associated with volcanic activity are as follows-

  • Mantle plumes- These are the large uprising bodies of magma that are generated due to the formation of convection current in the mantle. These are localized body and are located away from the tectonic boundaries. For example, Hawaii is formed as the plates moved over the mantle plumes.
  • Continental rifts- This refers to the eruption of magma at the surface of the continents, due to the divergent motion of two continental plates. It results in the formation of a rift, rift valley and then later forms an ocean.
  • Island arcs- These are formed due to the collision of two oceanic plates, where the volcanoes are formed on the lighter oceanic plate due to the rising up of magma.
  • Continental arcs- These are formed due to the collision between an oceanic and a continental plate, where the volcanoes are formed due to the uprising of magma in the lighter continental plates.
