Which excerpt from "Daughter of Invention" reveals Laura’s Dominican origin through unique pronunciation? "You girls are going t

o drive me crazy!" she threatened, if they kept nagging. "When I end up in Bellevue, you'll be safely sorry!" "Remember that time we took the car to Bear Mountain, and we re-ah-lized that we had forgotten to pack an opener with our pick-a-nick?" "Maybe not. Maybe, just maybe, there's something they've missed that's important. With patience and calm, even a burro can climb a palm." "Ay, Cuco. Remember how I showed you that suitcase with little wheels so we should not have to carry those heavy bags when we traveled? Someone stole my idea and made a million!"

Answer:

"Remember that time we took the car to Bear Mountain, and we re-ah-lized that we had forgotten to pack an opener with our pick-a-nick?"

Explanation:

This is the excerpt that reveals Laura's Dominican origin through her unique pronunciation. In this line, we learn that Laura mispronounces the words "realized" and "picnic." She seems to have trouble with vowels, and it appears that she pronounces them in a more "open" way, closer to their Spanish sound. This shows that Laura's Dominican origin has an impact on her pronunciation.

Use an apostrophe in the possessive form of a noun to indicate ownership. To

show

ownership, add apostrophe + s to the end of a word, with one exception: To show

ownership with a plural noun already ending in s add only the apostrophe.

 All singular nouns show possession by adding apostrophe + s ('s), including those

that already end in s.

Examples:

How are Harriet Beecher Stowe and Rachel Carson similar?
Yakvenalex [24]

Answer:

Harriet Beecher Stowe and Rachel Carson are remarkably similar in many different ways.

Harriet Beecher Stowe was an abolitionist and writer who is best known for her novel Uncle Tom's Cabin (1852). The book was extremely important for the abolitionist movement, and it contributed to bringing about the end of slavery. On the other hand, Rachel Carson was a marine biologist, author and conservationist who published a book called Silent Spring (1962). The book led to a ban on damaging pesticides, such as DDT, as well as to the rise of the environmental movement and the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Both of these women were interested in changing the social reality of the United States. They were both committed to making a change in their society, and took interest in the political issues of their time. Moreover, both authors led this change by writing about the topics that they were passionate about.
