We tend to assume something about someone based on the physical appearances and stereotypes we formed already rather than checking for real data.

<em>A representativeness heuristic means that we are highly considered an individual case more representative than it is.</em>

For avoiding these mistakes it is better to make sound judgments, be aware of our flaws in reasoning and being aware of that influences our perspectives on certain topics.

Although heuristics are very common to everyone, we should avoid judging with little information, or first-hand information, and avoid making quick and unmediated assessments of situations that require us to think broader.

  • We pursue to avoid making quick judgments based on any kind of mental prototypes.
  • We are therefore encouraged at every time to have a direct and clear observation of what we have in front of us, rather than relying on mental shortcuts.
