A)
Name a pair of complementary angles.
First of all, complementary angle means that two angles add together to get 90°, and we see that angle BXC, and angle CXD add up together to get 90°, so they are the pair of complementary angles.
B)
Name two supplementary angle pairs.
Supplementary angles means that all the angles or an angle add up together to get 180°
We see that angle AXD is supplementary angle.
Also, angle AXD and angle BXD are also supplementary angles, for each of them measure up to 90°.
C)
Solve for each of the unknowns
First step:
Let find x. We know that angle BXC and angle CXD are complementary angles, so
2x+40°=90°
Subtract 40° to each side
2x+40°-40°=90°-40°
2x=50°
Divided 2 to each side
2x/2=50°/2
x=25°
Lastly, let's find y. We knwo that angle BXC is complementary angles, so
5y=90°
Divided 5 to each side
5y/5=90°/5
y=18°. Hope it help!
