You have a 1.99-m-long stretched string with a mass of 19.3 g. When you oscillate the string at 440 Hz., which is the frequency

of the standard A pitch that orchestras tune to, you observe transverse waves with a wavelength of 15.7 cm traveling along the string. Calculate the tension in the string.

Answer:

T = 46.3 N

Explanation:

As we know that the wavelength of the wave is given as

\lambda = 15.7 cm = 0.157 m

frequency is given as

f = 440 Hz

now the speed of the wave is given as

v = \lambda f

v = (0.157)(440)

v = 69.08 m/s

now we have

v = \sqrt{\frac{T}{m/L}}

now we know that

m = 19.3 g

L = 1.99 m

69.08 = \sqrt{\frac{T}{0.0193/1.99}}

T = 46.3 N

Explanation:

What is the scientific method in environmental science?

The scientific method is a method of research with defined steps that include experiments and careful observation. One of the most important aspects of this method is the testing of hypotheses by means of repeatable experiments. A hypothesis is a suggested explanation for an event, which can be tested.

A car, starting from rest, accelerates in a straight-line path at a constant rate of 2.0 m/s2. How far will the car travel in 12
Kryger [21]
Same formula as the last question. x = vt + (1/2)at^2. In this case, v = 0, t = 12, and a = 2.0. Plug in the values and solve for x (which is change in position) x = (0)(12) + (1/2)(2.0)(12^2) x = (1/2)(2.0)(144) x = (1)(144) x = 144 So the car will travel 144 meters in 12 seconds.

"Wavelength" is the distance between two crests or two Troughs.

It is the <span>distance between compressions or the distance between rarefactions on a longitudinal wave too!

So, your final answer is "Wavelength".

Hope this helps!!</span>
