Again, I've attached an image showing the 30-60-90 relationship for triangles. Hopefully this should help as we work through this problem.

For the side adjacent to the 30 degree angle, we know that the side length is x\sqrt{3}. Let's take a look at the given options and see which ones fit.

The options that fit are x\sqrt{3} and 7\sqrt{3}.

For the side adjacent to the 60 degree angle, we know that the side length is just x. Let's take a look at the given options and see which ones fit.

The options that fit are x and 7.

Finally, the hypotenuse is the longest side of the triangle and its length is equal to 2x.

So, the options that fit are 2x and 14.

Hope this helps! :)

P is a point on the x axis 13 units from the point (-3, 5). find all the possible coordinates for p.
SVEN [57.7K]

If P is a point in the x axis therefore this means that the y must be zero. Hence the coordinate of p is (x, 0).

We can use the distance formula to solve for the value of x:

d^2 = (x – x1)^2 + (y – y1)^2

13^2 = (x + 3)^2 + (0 – 5)^2

169 = (x + 3)^2 + 25

(x + 3)^2 = 144

x + 3 = ± 12

x = -15, 9

Hence P has two possible coordinates:

<span>(-15, 0) and (9, 0)</span>

how long will it take an investment of $300 to triple, if the interest rate is 3.5% per year, compounded continuously?
Rashid [163]

Answer:

31 years to triple the investment

Step-by-step explanation:

Initial investment = 300

Triple amount that is final amount = 300*3= 900

rate of interest = 3.5 % = 0.035

we need to find out number of years (t)

for compounded continuously we use formula

A= Pe^{rt}

A is the final amount

P is the initial amount

r is the rate of interest

t is the number of years

900 = 300e^{0.035*t}

Divide both sides by 300

3 =e^{0.035*t}

take 'ln' on both sides

ln(3) =ln(e^{0.035*t})

ln(3) = 0.035t ln(e)

ln(e)= 1

\frac{ln(3)}{0.035} = t

t= 31.3889

Round to nearest whole number

t= 31 years
