When a person in the hospital is given fluid intravenously (an I.V.), the fluid is typically a saline (salt) solution with about
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

Distilled water is hypotonic with respect to the blood plasma of our body.

Explanation:

If distilled water is used in place of saline and injected intravenously then red blood cells of that patient"s body will start to swell as the osmotic pressure of the blood is very much greater than that of distilled water.

That"s why, to maintain homeostasis 0.9% NaCl is used as saline solution because RBC is isotonic with 0.9% NaCl solution.

Find the free floating DNA. why do you think it’s called free floating
pshichka [43]
Answer: Free-floating DNA is a term used to describe Prokaryotic DNA because such cells do not contain a distinct nucleus complete with a nuclear membrane. Such DNA simply exist in a region in the cytoplasm called nucleoid. Nucleoid is not distinct but can be found in any part of the cytoplasm, thus the term 'free-floating'.

The principal reason we consider tunicates similar to the ancestor of all chordates is that Select one: a. tunicates have a loph
scoundrel [369]

Answer:

d. tunicate larvae possess the synapomorphies of adult chordates and thus reveal close evolutionary relationships with chordates.

Explanation:

In evolutionary biology, a synapomorphy is a shared, derived character/trait which is present in an ancestor and its descendants. Synapomorphies are useful markers to establish phylogenetic relationships between sets of taxa. Tunicates (subphylum Tunicata) are sessile marine invertebrates that are considered chordates (phylum Chordata) because the larval stage has characters/traits that are similar to other chordates. Larval tunicates have a nerve cord, a notochord, tail and gill slits (conserved in adults).
