The Warren Court ruled that schools could restrict students’ free speech if the speech disrupted school discipline.

Further Explanation:

The Warren Court’s ruling that any educational organization can restrict free speech in case of disruption of School speech was given in the case of Engel versus Vitale. The case proved itself a landmark case in the antiquity of the United States. Supreme Court in the case held that it is a totally unconstitutional act for a public school to compose a school prayer and compel students to recite it.The whole instance started when parents of a Public School of New Hyde Park filed a case against President William J. Vitale asking to shoo him. They argued that “Almighty God”, the school prayer sung was contradicting their religious sentiment. The case even received support from some regional organizations such as the Jewish Organization and Ethical Culture.

The ruling of the court rejected the defendant's wiles that students were not compelled to observe any specific customary religion that the traditional legacy of the realm was religious, and thus the prayer was voluntary.
