You exercise for one hour each day and you burn 8.5 calories per minute. If you graphed the number of calories you burned as the

output, compared to the number of minutes you exercise as input, what would the graph look like? Which of the following would not be true?
A.The graph would be a line.
B.The graph would rise from left to right.
C.The graph would be only in the first quadrant.
D.The larger the number of minutes, the fewer calories you would burn.

In a graph, the general rule is that the output is the y axis and the input is the x axis. Therefore, we can say that the number of calories burned will be along the y axis and the minutes will be along the x axis.

(A) The graph would be a line.
This would be <u>true</u>, because you are burning calories at a steady rate. This means that the graph will also be increasing steadily, rather than dropping randomly.

(B) The graph would rise from left to right.
This would be <u>true</u>, because your graph will be increasing positively. If it rose right to left, that would mean the more time passed, the less calories burned.

(C) <u /><span>The graph would be only in the first quadrant.
This would be <u>true</u>, because your graph, as said before, will be increasing positively. At the rate you're going at, it isn't possible to burn negative calories or spend a negative amount of time exercising.

(D) <u /></span><span>The larger the number of minutes, the fewer calories you would burn.
This would be <u>false</u>, because you burn 8.5 calories per minute. This indicates that the more time passed, the more calories you will burn. In order for it to be true, 8.5 would have to be negative.

The table of vaules represents a linear function g(x) where X is the number of days that have passed and g(x) is the blance in t
Step2247 [10]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope formula is

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Filling in this formula with 2 different points 2 times will ensure that this is fact a linear function. In other words, if the slope comes up the same between points 1 and 2 and then between points 2 and 3, this is linear.

Between (0, 600) and (3, 720) the slope formula is

m=\frac{720-600}{3-0}=\frac{120}{3}=40  and

m=\frac{840-720}{6-3}=\frac{120}{3}=40 So this is in fact linear because the slopes are the same.

Interpreting a slope is similar to interpreting a unit ratio. In our case, the slope means that after the initial investment in the account, $40 per day (there's the unit rate I was referring to) is deposited into the account.

Using that slope to write first the point-slope form of the line allows us to use any one of the 3 coordinates to write the equation. I use (0, 600). In point-slope form:

y-600=40(x-0)

That's point-slope form. Now for slope-intercept form, which is the same as solving for y.

y - 600 = 40x - 0 and

y = 40x + 600. That's slope-intercept, and now for standard form. Standard form follows the format of a. No fractions and b. Both the x and y terms go on the same side of the equals sign and the constant on the other.

We move the x term over to the y side:

-40x + y = 600. But a lot of textbooks don't like to lead with a negative, so the equivalent form of this with a positive leading coefficient is

40x - y = -600 (notice that all we did was change ALL the signs to the opposite of what they were, not just the sign on the x term. Very important!!)

Keith exercises x hours a week. Troy exercises three hours less than Keith and Joe exercises two times more than Troy. Which exp
muminat
If you would like to know which expression represents the amount of time Joe exercises, you can calculate this using the following steps:

Keith ... x hours a week
Troy ... three hours less than Keith: x - 3
Joe ... two times more than Troy: 2 * (x - 3)

The correct result would be D) 2 * (x - 3).

Anita has a cellphone contract that costs her R100 per month plus 85 cents per peak time SMS,and 25 cents per off-peak time SMS.
algol [13]

Answer:

Anita's monthly bill will be $164.25.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since Anita has a cellphone contract that costs her R100 per month plus 85 cents per peak time SMS, and 25 cents per off-peak time SMS, if she sends 45 SMSs during peak time and 105 SMSs during off-peak time In a month To determine what will her monthly bill come to, the following calculation must be performed:

100 + (0.85 x 45) + (0.25 x 105) = X

100 + 38.25 + 26.25 = X

138.25 + 26.25 = X

164.25 = X

Therefore, her monthly bill will be $ 164.25.

Tangent Line h(t) = sec t / t @ (Pi, 1/pi)
Alex Ar [27]
Take derivitive

note
the derivitive of sec(x)=sec(x)tan(x)
so
remember the quotient rule
the derivitive of \frac{f(x)}{g(x)} = \frac{f'(x)g(x)-g'(x)f(x)}{(g(x))^2}
so

the derivitive of \frac{sec(t)}{t} = \frac{sec(t)tan(t)t-(1)(sec(t))}{t^2}
so now evaluate when t=pi
we get
sec(pi)=-1
tan(pi)=0
we get
\frac{(-1)(0)(pi)-(pi)(-1)}{pi^2}= \frac{pi}{pi^2}= \frac{1}{pi}
slope=1/pi

use slope point form
for
slope=m and point is (x1,y1)
equation is
y-y1=m(x-x1)
slope is 1/pi
point is (pi,1/pi)

y-1/π=1/π(x-π)
times both sides by π
πy-1=x-π
πy=x-π+1
y=(1/π)x-1+(1/π)
or, alternately
-(1/π)x+y=(1/π)-1
x-πy=π-1
