In a graph, the general rule is that the output is the y axis and the input is the x axis. Therefore, we can say that the number of calories burned will be along the y axis and the minutes will be along the x axis. 

(A) The graph would be a line.
This would be <u>true</u>, because you are burning calories at a steady rate. This means that the graph will also be increasing steadily, rather than dropping randomly.

(B) The graph would rise from left to right.
This would be <u>true</u>, because your graph will be increasing positively. If it rose right to left, that would mean the more time passed, the less calories burned.

(C) <u /><span>The graph would be only in the first quadrant.
This would be <u>true</u>, because your graph, as said before, will be increasing positively. At the rate you're going at, it isn't possible to burn negative calories or spend a negative amount of time exercising. 

(D) <u /></span><span>The larger the number of minutes, the fewer calories you would burn.
This would be <u>false</u>, because you burn 8.5 calories per minute. This indicates that the more time passed, the more calories you will burn. In order for it to be true, 8.5 would have to be negative.
