If BC is your shortest like, that would make it line A of the pythagorean theorem. AC is line B, and that would make line AB the hypotenuse, or line C.
So....
a^2+b^2=c^2
12^2+18^2=c^2
12*12=144
18*18=324
324+144=c^2
468=c^2
Because it is squared, you can divide by 2 and get your answer to line AB.

Answer: The length of AB is 19.636 cm (approx).

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, ABC is a triangle,

In which AC = 18 cm, BC = 12 cm and ∠C = 79°,

By the cosine law,

AB^2=AC^2+BC^2-2(AB)(BC) cosC

\implies AB^2 = 18^2 + 12^2 - 2\times 18\times 12 cos 79^{\circ}

\implies AB^2 = 324 + 144 - 82.4294860027

\implies AB^2 = 385.570513997

\implies AB = 19.6359495313\approx 19.636\text{ cm}

Thus, the length of AB is 19.636 cm (approx).

The height of a cylinder is 5 centimeters. The diameter of the base of the cylinder is 16 centimeters. Find the lateral surface
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Answer:

Lateral surface area of the cylinder =251.2 cm^2

Step-by-step explanation:

  Lateral surface area of he cylinder = 2*\pi*r*h  i.e area of side surface.

Height(h) = 5 cm

Diameter = 16 cm

radius(r)= 16/2= 8 cm

Lateral surface area of the cylinder = 2*\pi *8*5

                                                                         \pi =\frac{22}{7}=3.14

               L.S.A=  2*3.14*8*5

              L.S.A=  251.2 cm^2

The lateral surface area of the cylinder with radius 8 cm and height 5 cm is 251.2 cm^2

Find the arc length along a circle of radius 10 subtended by an angle of 215 degrees
natka813 [3]

Answer:

arc = 25.29

Step-by-step explanation:

first find the circumference:

C = 2r(Pi) = 2(10)(3.14) = 62.8

since subtended, then we're looking for these opposite angle of 215 degrees:

360 - 215 = 145 degrees

62.8/360 = 0.1744 per degree

0.1744 x 145  = 25.29
