You have identified a novel gene, Ums1, whose protein product is a component of the RISC in the nematode C. elegans. You believe

this protein (like all the RISC proteins) is critical for the production of miRNAs, in particular ones that slice the mRNA for a gene called Trtn1. Describe how you would use RNAi in worm lysates to knockdown Ums1 and show that slicing of Trtn1 is inhibited without Ums1. Include details like what part of Ums1 you would target with siRNAs, how trigger RNA would be delivered to the worms, and how you assay for sliced or unsliced Trtn1 mRNA. Show what positive results would look like (probably with an illustration of an autorad or bar graphs).

Would a muscle cell be able to produce a functional contraction if it lacked t-tubules?
hjlf

The answer would be no. T-Tubules or Transverse tubules are additions of the sarcolemma that infiltrate into the center of cardiac and skeletal muscle cells. There would be no functional contraction since it would not be capable to communicate or interconnect with the other cells.

3a. Scientists think some organisms have eyespots on their bodies to help them lure in prey. Choices True False
shepuryov [24]

Answer:

False

Explanation:

The eye spot instead creates a disguise and used to misdirect predators. The eyespots are a defense mechanism for the organism. Scientists have tested this by painting eye spots on a gake prey and a fish was used a s the predator. The predator was discovered to have attacked the fake eyespots more often as it thought it was the prey's head.

Eyespots on a prey can also make the predator to think that it is facing a larger animal. An example is the butterfly which have large false eyes on its wings.
