Jun writes an expression 5(x+2).Then he uses the Distributive property to write the equivalent expression 5x+10. How can he substitute a value for the variable to check to see if expressions are equivalent?............................. the variable is x

I am not sure but I think this is what it means by.
 You can substitute 4 for an example for x.
 5(4+2)          5(4)+10
 5(6)              20+10
 30                    30
