An opinion poll asks a simple random sample of 100 college seniors how they view their job prospects. In all, 53 say "good." Doe

s the poll give convincing evidence to conclude that more than half of all seniors think their job prospects are good? If p = the proportion of all college seniors who say their job prospects are good, what are the the hypotheses for a test to answer this question?

Answer:

We are tryng to proof if more than half of all seniors think their job prospects are good so that would be the alternative hypothesis and the complement rule would be the null hypothesis.:

Null hypothesis:p\leq 0.5

Alternative hypothesis:p > 0.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Information provided

n=100 represent the random sample ofcollege senior selected

X=53 represent the college seniors who say good

\hat p=\frac{53}{100}=0.53 estimated proportion of seniors who think their job prospects are good

p_o=0.5 is the value that we want to test

z would represent the statistic

p_v represent the p value

System of hypothesis

We are tryng to proof if more than half of all seniors think their job prospects are good so that would be the alternative hypothesis and the complement rule would be the null hypothesis.:

Null hypothesis:p\leq 0.5

Alternative hypothesis:p > 0.5

The statistic is given by:

z=\frac{\hat p -p_o}{\sqrt{\frac{p_o (1-p_o)}{n}}} (1)

Replacing the info given we have:

z=\frac{0.53 -0.5}{\sqrt{\frac{0.5(1-0.5)}{100}}}=0.6

The p value for this case would be given by

p_v =P(z>0.6)=0.274

An ice cream shop sells sundaes for $2 and banana splits for $3. On a hot day the shop sold 8 more sundaes than banana splits an
lawyer [7]

Answer:

Number of sundaes = 36

Number of banana split = 28

Step-by-step explanation:

On that day, let the number of sundaes sold be x

Now, since they sold 8 more sundaes than banana, the number of bananas sold is x-8

So the cost of sundaes sold will be 2 * x = 2x

the total cost of banana splits sold will be 3(x-8) = 3x -24

The addition of both equals 156

Hence;

2x + 3x-24 = 156

5x -24 = 156

5x = 156 + 24

5x = 180

x = 180/5

x = 36

So

number of sundaes sold is 36 while the number of bananas split sold is 36-8 = 28

What is the slope of the line in this graph?
den301095 [7]

Answer:

The slope is 5/6

Step-by-step explanation:

To calculate the slope here, there are two ways.

Count the rise over run with the boxes

Or

Find Any 2 points and use y2-y1/x2-x1 to find slope

Both ways work.

For this graph Since it looks pretty basic, I‘ll use the rise over run technique

Now we start from the origin side that is where one point is and just rise vertically until I reach a point and when I do, just run that many steps.

So I reached till 5 and ran to 6 which is a  point on the coordinate graph

So to put it in slope form, it’s rise over run

Heres a easy way to remember it

lets say you wake up, you have to rise first and then run

You can’t run and then rise, that makes no sense

So here its rise 5 and run 6

so 5/6 is the slope
