Determine dy/dx in terms of t and evaluate it at the given value of t for the following parametric curves.a. x = 3 sin t, y = 2

cos t; t = pi/4b. x = 3t, y = 2t^3 ; t = 1Do you just do dx/dtheta then dy/dtheta and divide dy/dtheta by dx/dtheta? Then plug in value?

Step-by-step explanation:

You are correct.  dy/dx = (dy/dt) / (dx/dt)

x = 3 sin t

dx/dt = 3 cos t

y = 2 cos t

dy/dt = -2 sin t

dy/dx = (-2 sin t) / (3 cos t)

dy/dx = -⅔ tan t

t = π/4

dy/dx = -⅔ tan(π/4)

dy/dx = -⅔

What is the slope of a line that passes through the points (-5,-3) and (9,-6)
kipiarov [429]
To find the slope given two points, you need to subtract the two y values over the two x values
(-5,-3)  (9,-6)
-5 will be x1, and -3 will be y1. 9 will be x2, and -6 will be y2. You then need to put the numbers in the correct place in the equation.
y2-y1      -6-(-3)     -9
-------- =   -------- =  ----
x2-x1       9-(-5)     14
Now that we have the slope (-9/14) you can use one of the coordinates to find the value of b.
Let's use (9,-6).
-6=-9/14(9)+b
-6=-81/14+b
+81/14
b=-3/14
Your final equation is y=-9/15x-3/14

Need help badly don’t have answer to this problem.
NikAS [45]
There are a couple of ways to tackle this one, using the 45-45-90 rule or just using the pythagorean theore, let's use the pythagorean theorem.

the angle at A is 45°, and its opposite side is BC, the angle at C is 45° as well, and its opposite side is AB, well, the angles are the same, thus BC = AB.

hmmm le'ts call hmmm ohh hmmm say z, thus BC = AB = z.

\bf \textit{using the pythagorean theorem}
\\\\
c^2=a^2+b^2 \implies (6\sqrt{2})^2=z^2+z^2
\qquad
\begin{cases}
c=\stackrel{6\sqrt{2}}{hypotenuse}\\
a=\stackrel{z}{adjacent}\\
b=\stackrel{z}{opposite}\\
\end{cases}\\\\\\ 6^2(\sqrt{2})^2=2z^2\implies 36(2)=2z^2\implies \cfrac{36(2)}{2}=z^2\implies 36=z^2
\\\\\\
\sqrt{36}=z\implies 6=z
