A professor is interested in comparing the average amount spent on textbooks for freshmen and sophomores. A random sample of 10

freshmen yielded a sample mean amount of 1023 and a sample standard deviation of 68. A random sample of 14 sophomores yielded a sample mean amount of 1257 and a sample standard deviation of 338. Construct a 99% confidence interval for the difference between the mean amount spent on textbooks by freshmen and the mean amount spent by sophomores (ie. do freshmen minus sophomores). Since the sample standard deviations are wildly different, use a method which does not assume the populations have the same variance. Assume normality. a) What is the appropriate degrees of freedom in this case? b) What is the lower confidence limit on the interval? Give your answer to three decimal places. c) What is the upper confidence limit on the interval? Give your answer to three decimal places. d) Using this interval, is it reasonable to conclude that the average sophomore spends more than the average freshman? A. Yes because the upper endpoint on the interval is above 0. B. Yes because the upper endpoint on the interval is below 0. C. Yes because the interval contains 0. D. No because the interval contains 0.

Which graph represent the solution set of this inequality
lubasha [3.4K]
Hi!

First, let me explain that open circles mean that the answer starts after or before that number. So if the answer is c < 4, the answer would be D, and not B.

If the answer was c ≤ 4, the answer would be B, and not D.

I hope that makes sense. Now let's solve the inequality.

Remember that whatever we do to the inequality, we have to do it to both sides.

We need to isolate c on one side.
10c + 5 ≤ 45
Start by subtracting 5 from both sides.
10c + 5 - 5 ≤ 45 - 5
10c ≤ 40
Divide by 10 on both sides.
10c/10 ≤ 40/10
c ≤ 4

The answer is B.

Hope this helps! :)

Angle Y is a right angle, so it’s 90 degrees. Angle W is 2x, since it’s opposite angles on a single line intersecting parallel lines. Triangles have 180 degrees, so adding up all sides creates the equation to solve:

X+Y+W=180
(3x-5)+90+2x=180
5x+85=180
5x=95
x=19

<span>For the answer to the question above, according to Weber's law, the perceptible differences are proportional to the initial perception. So, with just a 10% increase in area was perceptible, but an increase of 1-9% in the area is considered imperceptible. The 9% increase in area reflected by 200 to 218 would be perceived as the same size as before.
