The correct answer should be either a or b.

A - The amount of slaves went down because the cotton gin replaced many people.

B - When something is mass-produced, you can make it for less and earn more money

C - This option just doesn't make sense considering the fact that cotton gins were a positive invention. If they weren't positive they wouldn't have kept them.

D - This could be true but it is very unlikely considering the context of the question. As I stated above, the cotton gin replaced many slaves (everywhere, not just in the South).

I am more leaning toward A because that's what I learned; but, B could also work.

puteri [66]

According to Gibbons v. Ogden, a state can not interfere with the power of congress to regulate commerce.

Explanation:

The case of Gibbons and the Ogden was presented in the Supreme Court in the United States of America. It was in the year 1824 and was one of the most important cases of that time.

According to this case, a principle was established and it established a legislative enactment. According to this, a state could not interfere in the power of the congress and the power that was talked about in this principle was about interfering with the regulation of the commerce. It was only in the hand of the congress and not with the states.
