Answer:

x=5

Step-by-step explanation:

1+2x=x-4+2x - Add similar elements (3x-x=2x)

1+2x=x+2x-4 - Group like terms

1+2x=3x-4 - Add similar elements (x+2x=3x)

1+2x-1=3x-4-1 - Subtract 1 from both sides

2x=3x-5 - Simplify

2x-3x=3x-5-3x - Subtract 3x from both sides

-x=-5 - Simplify

-x/-1 = -5/-11 - Divide both sides by -1

x=5 - final answer

torisob [31]

We have been given that :-

The length of a parasite in experiment A is 2.5 \times 10^{-3}

The length of a parasite in experiment B is 1.25 \times 10^{-4}

Let us write the the  length of the parasite in experiment A in the exponent of -3.

1.25 \times 10^{-4}= 0.125 \times 10^{-3}

Clearly, the length of parasite in experiment A is greater than the length of parasite in experiment B.

The difference in the length is given by

2.5 \times 10^{-3} -0.125 \times 10^{-4}

=2.375 \times 10^{-3}

Therefore, the length of the parasite in experiment A is =2.375 \times 10^{-3} inches  greater than the length of the parasite in experiment B.
