Kim's softball team is playing in the championship game. They are losing by a score of 17 to 6. There are 4 innings to go. Kim w

ants to know how many runs her team needs per inning to win the game if the other team does not score. (Each run is worth 11 point.)
Let r represent the number of runs per inning. Assume that the team scores the same number of runs per inning, and write an inequality to determine the number of runs per inning needed to win the game.

They are 11 runs down. 17 - 6 = 11 They have 4 at bats to go. 3 runs each of 4 at bats = 12 runs. 12 new runs plus 6 you have scored will give you 18 runs, if you do not allow your opponent any more runs! If you allow your opponents to score , you will need to add those to your answer!

A right triangle has an area of 18 square inches.If the triangle is an isosceles triangle, what are the lengths of the legs of t
Gnom [1K]
If it is isosceles, than the legs are the same. We will call them X. The formula for the area of a triangle is 1/2 (base * height). But the base and the height are both X. So the area (18) is equal to 1/2 (x * x), or 1/2(x^2). This means that 36 = x^2. Thus, the length of each side is 6 inches. You can check this work by plugging those into the formula for area. You will find that it equals 18.

Jordan fills several bags with oranges. This line plot shows the weight of each bag.
xz_007 [3.2K]

Answer:

2 1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

The heaviest bag weighs 4 pounds, and the lightest bag weighs 1 1/2.

4 can be converted to 8/2 and 1 1/2 can be converted to 3/2.

8/2-3/2=5/2.

5/2 converts to 2 and 1/2 or 2.5

. Dillion deposits $150 into his account. One week later, he withdraws $26. Write an addition expression to represent this situa
Lina20 [59]

Answer:

Expression = x + 150 +(- 26)

$124 higher

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Deposit = \$150

Withdrawal = \$26

Required

Represent the situation

Determine how much higher or lower is the remaining amount

Let the initial amount in his account be represented with x

When he deposited, the balance becomes

Balance = x + 150

When he withdrew, the balance becomes

Balance = x + 150 + (-26)

Hence, the algebraic expression is

Expression = x + 150 +(- 26)

Calculating how much higher or lower

Balance = x + 150 + (-26)

Open bracket

Balance = x + 150 -26

Balance = x + 124

Recall that the initial amount in the account is x

The difference between the balance and the x is as follows

Difference = x + 124 - x

Difference = \$124

<em>Hence, the account has a higher of $124 after both transactions</em>

Al's Produce Stand sells 8 ears of corn for $2.25. Barbara's Produce Stand sells 12 ears of corn for $3.50. Write two equations,
Gennadij [26K]

Answer:

6n = 1.50

and

13n = 3.12

Step-by-step explanation:

Here in this question, we are interested in writing equations that relate the number of ears of corn sold and the cost.For Al’s produce stand, let the price per corn sold be n

Thus;

6 * n = 1.50

6n = $1.50 •••••••(i)

For the second;

let the price per corn sold be n;

13 * n = $3.12

-> 13n = 3.12 •••••••••(ii)

Initially, there are 40 grams of A and 50 grams of B, and for each gram of B, 2 grams of A is used. It is observed that 15 grams
hram777 [196]

Answer:

X(16)=25.71grams

Step-by-step explanation:

let X(t) denote grams of C formed in  t mins.

For X grams of C we have:

\frac{2}{3}Xg of A and \frac{1}{3}Xg of B

Amounts of A,B remaining at any given time is expressed as:

40-\frac{2}{3}Xg of A and  50-\frac{1}{3}Xg  of B

Rate at which C is formed satisfies:

\frac{dX}{dt} \infty(40-\frac{2}{3}X)(50-\frac{1}{3}X)->\frac{dX}{dt}=k(90-X)\\\therefore \frac{dX}{(90-X)^2}=kdt->\int{\frac{dX}{(90-X)^2}} \, =\int {k} \, dt  \\\therefore \frac{1}{90-X}=kt+c->90-X=\frac{1}{kt+c}\\\\X(t)=90-\frac{1}{kt+c}

Apply the initial condition,X(0)=0 ,to the expression above

0=90-\frac{1}{c} \ \ ->c=\frac{1}{90}\\\therefore\\X(t)=90-\frac{1}{kt+\frac{1}{90}} \ \ ->X(t)=90-\frac{90}{90kt+c}

Now at X(8)=15:

15=90-\frac{90}{90\times 8k+1}  \ ->75=\frac{90}{720k+1}\\k=0.0002778

Substitute  in X(t) to get

X(t)=90-\frac{90}{0.0002778t\times 90+1}\\X(t)=90-\frac{90}{0.25t+1}\\But \ t=16\\\therefore X(t)=90-\frac{90}{0.025\times16+1}\\X(t)=25.71
