Write an equation of the line passing through the points (4.15) and (-1. - 15).
jolli1 [7]

Answer:

y = 6x - 9

General Formulas and Concepts:

<u>Pre-Algebra</u>

  • Order of Operations: BPEMDAS

<u>Algebra I</u>

Slope Formula: m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Slope-Intercept Form: y = mx + b

  • m - slope
  • b - y-intercept

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

Point (4, 15)

Point (-1, -15)

<u>Step 2: Find slope </u><em><u>m</u></em>

  1. Substitute:                    m=\frac{-15-15}{-1-4}
  2. Subtract:                       m=\frac{-30}{-5}
  3. Divide:                          m=6

<u>Step 3: Find y-intercept </u><em><u>b</u></em>

  1. Define:                    y = 6x + b
  2. Substitute:              -15 = 6(-1) + b
  3. Multiply:                  -15 = -6 + b
  4. Isolate <em>b</em>:                 -9 = b
  5. Rewrite:                   b = -9

<u>Step 4: Write linear equation</u>

<em>Substitute in all variables.</em>

y = 6x - 9

What will go Inside the boxes?
e-lub [12.9K]

Answer:

18500 is the initial value

Every year they increase by a factor of 1.03

Step-by-step explanation:

This is written in the form

y = ab^x  where a is the initial value and b is the growth rate/decrease

y = (18500) (1.03)^t

The initial value is 18500

The students will increase by 1.03 - 1 = .03

The factor of increase is what they multiply by which is 1.03

HELP! 15 POINTS!
Brut [27]

It's pretty easy to go through the choices and none has a[2]=-36 and a[5]=2304.  Something's probably wrong with the way the question is typed, but I will answer what's written.

a_n = a + (n-1) d

a_2 = -36 = a + d

a_5 = 2304 = a + 4d

Subtracting,

2340 = 3d

d = 2340/3 = 780

a = -36 - d = -36 - 780 = -816

Answer: a[n] = -816 + 780(n-1)  which is none of the above

Check:

a_2 = -816 + 780= -36 \quad\checkmark

a_5 = -816 + 780(4) = 2304 \quad\checkmark
