Answer:

  $3800

Step-by-step explanation:

When simple interest is added to the principal amount, the sum increases linearly with time. Essentially, you are asked for the y-intercept of a line that goes through the points (2, 6200) and (3, 7400). You can use the 2-point form of the equation of a line to find it:

  y = (y2 -y1)/(x2 -x1)(x -x1) +y1

  y = (7400 -6200)/(3 -2)(x -2) +6200 . . . . fill in given points

  y = 1200(x -2) +6200 . . . . . . . . . simplify some

  y = 1200x -2400 +6200 . . . . . . simplify more

  y = 1200x +3800 . . . . . . . . . . . . . completely simplify

When the number of years (x) is zero, the amount is 3800. The principal is $3800.

_____

The account is earning $1200 per year on a principal of $3800. The interest rate is about 31.6%, an unusually high value.

_____

<em>Alternate solution</em>

You can recognize that the interest earned in one year is 7400 -6200 = 1200. Since this is simple interest, the amount of interest earned each year is the same, so in 3 years, the account has earned 3×$1200 = $3600 in interest. Then the original principal amount must be ...

  $7400 -3600 = $3800 . . . . . principal amount

Sauron [17]
   This is really easy.
x-4=8
   what it really is asking you is the value of x
   Isolate x
   take 4 to the other side. not -4 but positive 4
   x=12

Okay so, to get C you add the ones inside the triangle together.

42+58=100 Then the last angle will be 80, because when you add the three inside the triangle, you should get 180

42+58+80=180

To get D, you have to subtract 180 and 58, because 58+d will be a straight angle.

180-58=121

To get B and A, you would also have another straight angle (c, b, and a)

180-80=100

I believe that B=A, so, with the remaining 100, both A and B equal 50.

50+50+80=180

Does this help??

2. The Hereford Cattle Society says that the mean weight of a one-year-old Hereford bull is 1135 pounds, with a standard deviati
Andrews [41]

Answer:

16.35% probability their combined weight exceeds 46000 pounds.

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this question, we have to understand the normal probability distribution and the central limit theorem.

Normal probability distribution:

Problems of normally distributed samples are solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

Central limit theorem:

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sample means with size n of at least 30 can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

In this problem, we have that:

\mu = 1135, \sigma = 97, n = 40, s = \frac{97}{\sqrt{40}} = 15.34

Find the probability their combined weight exceeds 46000 pounds.

This is 1 subtracted by the pvalue of Z when X = \frac{46400}{40} = 1150. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

By the Central Limit Theorem

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{s}

Z = \frac{1150 - 1135}{15.34}

Z = 0.98

Z = 0.98 has a pvalue of 0.8365

1 - 0.8365 = 0.1635

16.35% probability their combined weight exceeds 46000 pounds.
