4. Erosion fills lakes with silt: Clearing of forests from over the hills caused soil erosion and the silt from the hills flowed down with rainwater runoff.

Earth's tides are caused by gravity from the Sun and Moon. If the moon was further away, it would be less effective to the tides. However, this doesn't mean that we won't have tides because they are still effected by gravity from the Sun.
