Your company maintains a cylindrical oil refinery storage tank that is 190 feet across on the inside and 80 feet high. The tank

is now 75% full of crude oil. You have calculated that it contains about 35, 800 cubic feet of crude oil. What error, if any, did you make in your calculations?
A. You multiplied that tank's radius by two instead of calculating r^2
B. You squared the tank's diameter instead of its radius
C. You did not take 75% of the tank's total volume
D. You forgot to multiply by the tank's height.
E. There was no error in your calculations.

Answer:

The correct answer is A. You multiplied that tank's radius by two instead of calculating r²

Step-by-step explanation:

This is the wrong calculation we did:

Volume of the cylindrical oil refinery storage tank = π * 2r * h * 0.75

Replacing with the real values, we got:

Volume of the cylindrical oil refinery storage tank = 3.14 * 2 * 95 *80 * 0.75

Volume of the cylindrical oil refinery storage tank = 35,796 cubic feet (Rounded 35,800)

This is the correct calculation we should have done:

Volume of the cylindrical oil refinery storage tank = π * r² * h * 0.75

Replacing with the real values, we got:

Volume of the cylindrical oil refinery storage tank = 3.14 * 95² *80 * 0.75

Volume of the cylindrical oil refinery storage tank = 1'700.310 cubic feet

a cylinder has a diameter of 24 inches. if its height is half its radius , what is the volume of the cylinder on cubic inches?
maksim [4K]

Answer:

approx. 905 in³

Step-by-step explanation:

The height is half its radius, and therefore the height is (1/2)(12 in), where 12 in represents half the diameter (24 in).

The formula for the volume of a cylinder of radius r and height h is

V = (1/3)(πr²)(h). Using the values r = 12 in, h = (1/2)(12 in), we get:

V= (1/3)π(12 in)²(6 in), or

V = (1/3)(144 in²)(6 in), or

V = 288π in³, or approx. 905 in³

Which of the following is the equation of a line parallel to the line y=3x+2, passing through the point (10,1)?
Ratling [72]
I think it's A. One way you can identify if they are parallel is if both of the slopes are the same (also both have to have the same signs).

Find X using the given information
aleksley [76]

Answer:

Just so you hear, Whirlybot, these circle problems are always "tricks" and they are tough. You have to remember a bunch of implied things

Step-by-step explanation:

One thing to recall is that the angle from the tangent point to O at the center is also a 90° angle. so you now know, that the line from the point where the circle touches the tangent line to the center is a right angle and you have part of that 90° already. the 50 is one part and there for the next part is 40 ° Since we now know that the line from the tangent to the center is forming an internal angle with that line going to X of 40 ° we know that X is also 40 ° b/c the triangle formed by the line to the center is going to be the same length as the line from the center to the X. That's an Isosceles triangle. they have the same angles at the two same length legs.

I know, I went thur a whole pile of logic, but that's what makes this kind of problem tough. you just have to keep thinking about things you know.

X = 40 °

Two steamers leave a port on a river at the same time, traveling in opposite directions. Each is traveling 22 mph. How long will
vivado [14]

It took both 2.5 hours to be 110 miles apart

Speed is the ratio of distance travelled to time taken. Speed is given by:

Speed = distance / time

Since both steamers is travelling at 22 mph. therefore they cover the same distance at the same time. For them to be 110 miles apart, they need to each have covered 55 miles in the opposite direction

22 = 55/time

time = 2.5 hours

Therefore after 2.5 hours they would have covered 55 miles each therefore being 110 miles apart.
