Mathematics

Well, we know perimeter is just adding all the lengths together.

And we already know 2 of the lengths, so we know the rest. 11 1/2 is the same as the opposite side, and 6 1/3 is the same as the opposite side.

So the sides are 6 1/3, 6 1/3, 11 1/2, 11 1/2.

Add them up:

6 1/3 + 6 1/3 + 11 1/2 + 11 1/2.

Improper fractions:

19/3 + 19/3 + 23/2 + 23/2.

Common denominator, (6):

38/6 + 38/6 + 69/6 + 69/6 = 214/6.

Simplify:

214/6 =  35 2/3

*trigonometry and area.*
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Answer:

<u>The correct answer is that the area of the regular octagon is 309 cm²</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

There are several formulas for calculating the area of a regular octagon. We will use this one for solving this question because it does not require additional information .

Area = (2 * s²)/tan 22,5°

s = 8 cm

Replacing with the real values, we have:

Area = (2 * 8²)/tan 22,5°

Area = 2 * 64/0.4142

Area = 128/0.4142

<u>Area = 309 cm² (Rounding to the nearest tenth)</u>

How do you solve 7.2&gt;0.9(n+8.6)
labwork [276]
7.2>0.9(n+8.6)
multiply 0.9 by all in parentheses

7.2> (0.9*n) + (0.9*8.6)
7.2> 0.9n + 7.74

subtract 7.74 from both sides
-0.54> 0.9n

divide both sides by 0.9
-0.6> n

ANSWER: -0.6> n

Hope this helps! :)

A triangle has base 2x+1 and height 6x-3. What value of x would give an area of 240m2?
GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

The values of x which would give an area of 240m² would be:

x=-\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2},\:x=\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

The base of triangle b = 2x+1

The height of triangle h = 6x-3

The Area of the triangle A = 240 m²

The Area of the triangle has the formula

A = 1/2 × b × h

substituting b = 2x+1, h = 6x-3 and A = 240

240\:=\:\frac{1}{2}\:\left(2x+1\right)\:\times \left(6x-3\right)

480=\left(2x+1\right)\left(6x-3\right)

480=12x^2-3

Subtract 480 from both sides

12x^2-3-480=480-480

12x^2-483=0

3\left(4x^2-161\right)=0

3\left(2x+\sqrt{161}\right)\left(2x-\sqrt{161}\right)=0

Using the zero factor principle

if ab=0, then a=0 or b=0 (or both a=0 and b=0)

2x+\sqrt{161}=0\quad \mathrm{or}\quad \:2x-\sqrt{161}=0

solving

2x+\sqrt{161}=0

2x=-\sqrt{161}

Divide both sides by 2

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{-\sqrt{161}}{2}

x=-\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}

also solving

2x-\sqrt{161}=0

2x=\sqrt{161}

Divide both sides by 2

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}

x=\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}

Therefore, the values of x which would give an area of 240m² would be:

x=-\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2},\:x=\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}
