Answer:

Della does not have much money to spend on Jim’s gift.

Della loves her husband, Jim, very much.

Della wants to buy Jim a really nice gift.

Explanation:

According to another source, this is the passage that is included with this question:

Only $1.87 to buy a present for Jim. Her Jim. Many a happy hour she had spent planning for something nice for him. Something fine and rare and sterling—something just a little bit near to being worthy of the honor of being owned by Jim.

These are the facts that can be learned about Della based on the passage. In these lines, we learn that Della only has $1.87, which even at the time was not a lot of money. However, she wanted to buy something really nice, as conveyed by the fact that she wanted something "fine and rare and sterling." Finally, we can also assume that Della loves Jim very much based on the words she uses to describe him and the time she spends with him.

It states why a counterargument is weak.

Explanation:

This passage describes how BSE is found in the United States. There is a piece of evidence to prove this. The writer includes evidence and his knowledge to explain to readers what type of disease is and what it could cause. All of these clues, he lists and concludes to deny a counterargument.

He especially points out the number of dead people, to show the importance of the situation and rebut the counterargument.

6. What might be the author's purpose for writing in first-person point of view?
Vikentia [17]

Answer:

I believe your answer would be so the character can directly share his or her thoughts with the reader.

Explanation:

A is the only option that makes sense because choice B would be Third-Person omniscient, while C would most likely be either Third-Person omniscient or limited. Either way, First-Person shares the narrator's point of view, so the reader cannot know more than the character does.

Use the paragraphs to complete the activity.
emmainna [20.7K]

Answer: The first point of view identified in this story is 3rd person point of view omniscient, as shown by the reader being able to know about Patrick and the other character's experiences. The second point of view identified in this story is 3rd person point of view limited. Here you're only able to know what Patrick's inner thoughts are. When it is found out by the character Andrew that Patrick is from the rival teams town, suspense is created by the anticipation of Andrew's reaction. However, it is also humorous because of irony of the situation that only the reader would know provided by the first point of view identified in this story.

Explanation: Sorry that it took a bit long. And that it's also slightly messy.
