Homeostasis is the condition of an internal balanced environment. Lower oxygen availability deviates the body from homeostasis by reduced oxygen supply to body cells. However, homeostasis is restored by secretion of erythropoietin hormone from kidneys which in turn stimulate the production of RBCs. Increased red blood cells in blood compensate for lower oxygen levels and ensure sufficient oxygen supply to all body parts.
