Explanation:

1. malleability                     ability to be pounded into shapes

Malleability is a term that reflects the ability of a substance to be pounded into shapes. Metals are described as being malleable because they can the pounded into different shape. This ability relies on the metallic bonding between their atoms.

2. viscosity                  how well a substance flows at a given temperature

Viscosity describes how well a substance can flow at a given temperature. Under room temperature, a liquid like water has low viscosity and the friction between its molecules is low. Palm oil has a higher viscosity than water and sometimes sleeps because the molecules has internal friction within. Friction prevents materials from flowing readily.

3. density                                  the mass of a sample divided by its volume

Density is the mass per unit volume of a substance. Density value is different for different kinds of substances. There are several ways of calculation density.

             Density = \frac{mass}{volume}

4. texture                                         degree of surface smoothness

Texture is the feel of a substance and it refers to the degree of surface smoothness. A smooth surface is said to have a smooth texture while a coarse surface that is gritty to feel has a coarse texture. Texture is often a function of the size, shape and orientation of mineral grains.

5. solubility                             the ability to dissolve in another substance

When a substance is able to dissolve in another, it is said to be soluble. The ability is known as solubility. The general rule of solubility is that like solute will dissolve in like solvent. A polar solute will dissolve in polar solvent and vice versa.

6. luster                                            how "shiny" a material is

Luster refers to how "shiny" a material is. This is due to the reflection of light from the surface in a regular form. it is one of the properties of metals .

7. ductility                                        ability to be pulled into a wire

Ability to be pulled into a wire is known as ductility. When a metal is subjected to tension using a hammer, it begins to draw out into a sheet. It can also be made into a wire .

Explain in your own words the process using the following key words: carbon-di-oxide, water, sugar, oxygen, thylakoid, chloropla
AleksAgata [21]

Answer:

The Photosynthesis process

Explanation:

Plants, algae, and some other organisms can transform the sunlight energy into chemical energy. The photosynthesis process occur thanks to the chloroplasts. The chloroplast is an organelle found in all green plants. Inside of the chloroplast you can find the thylakoids which are arranged in stacks named grana, they have membranes with chloropyll a photosynthetic pigment, also you can find the photosystems, they are functional and structural units of protein complexes. The thylakoids capture the light and allow the reactions to transform CO2. The set of reactions that occurs in the chloroplasts are known as the Calvin cycle.

The general equation of photosynthesis is:

6 CO_{2}                 + 6 H_{2} O + Energy  -> C_{6} H_{12} 12O_{6}  +  6 O_{2}

6 CO2                + 6 H2O + Energy  -> C6H12O6         +  6 O2

Carbon Dioxide  + water  +  Light   -> Glucose (sugar) + Oxygen

After, this glucose is transformed into pyruvate, and it allowed the release of denosine triphosphate (ATP) by cellular respiration. The ATP is an organic chemical that is requires for the cell to perform any process (any kind or work).

Find the pH of a 0.100 molar H2C6O6 solution with ka, where KA is equal 8.0×10–5
lubasha [3.4K]

The pH of the solution is 2.54.

Explanation:

pH is the measure of acidity of the solution and Ka is the dissociation constant. Dissociation constant is the measure of concentration of hydrogen ion donated to the solution.

The solution of C₆H₂O₆ will get dissociated as C₆HO₆ and H+ ions. So the molar concentration of 0.1 M is present at the initial stage. Lets consider that the concentration of hydrogen ion released as x and the same amount of the base ion will also be released.

So the dissociation constant Kₐ can be written as the ratio of concentration of products to the concentration of reactants. As the concentration of reactants is given as 0.1 M and the concentration of products is considered as x for both hydrogen and base ion. Then the

K_{a}=\frac{[H^{+}][HB] }{[reactant]}

[HB] is the concentration of base.

8 * 10^{-5} =\frac{x^{2}  }{0.1}\\\\\\x^{2} = 8 * 10^{-5}*0.1

x^{2} = 0.08 * 10^{-4}\\ \\x = 0.283*10^{-2}

Then

pH = - log [x] = - log [ 0.283 * 10^{-2}]\\ \\pH = 2 + 0.548 = 2.54

So the pH of the solution is 2.54.

Metals react with oxygen to give oxides with the general formula MxOy. What is a balanced chemical equation for the reaction of
katovenus [111]

Answer: 4Fe+3O_2\rightarrow 2Fe_2O_3

Explanation:

For formation of a neutral ionic compound, the charges on cation and anion must be balanced. The cation is formed by loss of electrons by metals and anions are formed by gain of electrons by non metals.

Here iron is having an oxidation state of +3 called as Fe^{3+} cation and oxide O^{2-} is an anion with oxidation state of -2. Thus they combine and their oxidation states are exchanged and written in simplest whole number ratios to give neutral Fe_2O_3.

According to the law of conservation of mass, mass can neither be created nor be destroyed. Thus the mass of products has to be equal to the mass of reactants. The number of atoms of each element has to be same on reactant and product side. Thus chemical equations are balanced.

2Fe+3O_2\rightarrow 2Fe_2O_3

Given the following equation: 2 K + Cl2 ---> 2 KCl
Ksivusya [100]

Answer:

2 moles of KCl will be produced

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Number of moles of K = 2 moles

Unknown:

Number of moles of KCl produced  = ?

Solution:

To solve this problem;

Obtain a balanced chemical equation:

           2K +  Cl₂   →   2KCl ;

Since K is the limiting reactant, its amount will determine the extent of this reaction.

   From the balanced equation;

           2 moles of K will produce 2 moles of KCl

        Given that 2 moles of K reacted, 2 moles of KCl will be produced
