In addition to stone, other materials such as aluminium with greasy backing can be used. The fact that when the stone or other surface on which the drawing is drawn is greasy, the water and grease do not mix. Thereafter, the ink applied or rolled onto the substrate remains in the drawing only, i.e on the contours of the previously drawn greasy crayon.
