Fossils can provide the time a species existed through carbon-14 dating, and can also show structures within the species that are similar to other organisms on earth today or other organisms before/slightly after that fossils existence.
Plants would be the only option, they have no legs so they can't move. They are producers and make its own food and unable to move around its environment.
