Alcohol represented evil by religious community. The main reason for Prohibition movement is due to the belief of different religious community that decreased consumption of alchohol would reduce the amount of crime, women abuse, and spousal abuse and increase the total amount of piety in US.

Due to the increased alchoholic consumption, a specific set of class was discriminated especially the poor working class who were not able to afford hard alchohol for a long time. Most women provided support to prohibition since it reduces abuse at homes.
