Giovanni Battista Tiepolo was known for his grand frescos in the rococo style.
In 1716, Giovanni painted his first grand fresco on the ceiling of a church at Biadene. In 1719-1720, he painted a series of frescoes for the nobled. He was famous because his wall frescoes are rooted in Venetian history and he narrate events with supreme naturalness. He was also described by Michael Levey "the greatest decorative painter of eighteenth-century in Europe.
