Answer:

Equation;

584=H+2B

Rory and her cousin traveled 146 miles each

Step-by-step explanation:

The total distance to be covered can be expressed as;

T=H+2B

where;

T=total distance to be covered

H=distance covered on the first day

B=distance covered by either Rory or her cousin on the second day

In our case;

T=584 miles

H=584/2=292 miles

B=b

replacing;

584=292+2×b

2 b=584-292

b=292/2=146 miles

Rory and her cousin traveled 146 miles each

china receives a shipment of 125 dishes in 5 boxes, at this rate how many dishes will it receive in 15 boxes
Elena-2011 [213]
Simple....

in 5 boxes you have 125 dishes...how many per box?

125/5=25

So, how many dishes in 15 boxes?

25*15=375

This means that in 15 boxes there are 375 dishes.

Thus, your answer.

Eight times the sum of 8 and some number is 17. What is the number?
OverLord2011 [107]
Edited answer: The number is: "- 6" .
_______________________________________________

8 (8 + x) = 16 ;

in which "x" represents the number for which to be solved ;

8*8 + 8*x = 16 .

Edit:  64 + 8x = 16 ;

Subtract "64" from each side of the equation:

Edit:   64 + 8x − 64 = 16 − 64 ;

to get:  8x = - 48 ;

Divide EACH SIDE of the equation by "8" ; to isolate "x" on one side of the equation ; and to solve for "x" ;

Edit:     8x / 8 = -48 / 8 ;

  Edit:    x = - 6 .
______________________________________________
The number is:  "- 6" .
______________________________________________
Let us check our answer, by plugging in "-6" for "x" in the original equation:
______________________________________________
8 (8 + x) = 16 ;

→ 8 [8 + (-6) ]  =? 16 ?? ;

→ 8 (8 − 6 )  =? 16 ?? ;

→ 8 (2)  =? 16 ?? ;

→ 16 = ? 16 ??  Yes!

Solve this equation 6(4.5y-12)=9
irinina [24]
6(4.5y - 12) = 9

(4.5y - 12) = 9/6

4.5y - 12 = 1.5

4.5y = 1.5 + 12

4.5y = 13.5

y = 13.5/4.5

y = 3
