Answer:

When CO2 is breathed into the lungs, it dissolves in the water there, diffuses across the alveolar-capillary membrane, and enters the bloodstream. As it combines with water, it forms carbonic acid, making the blood acidic. So CO2 in the bloodstream lowers the blood pH.

When we respirate or breathe, our bodies convert the oxygen into CO2 so that we can breathe it out and ensure that our blood pH doesn’t drop :)

Because there's one copy of the gene in DNA (2 for diploid species including humans). It would take a LONG time to make an appreciable amount of protein from two copies of the gene. But the cell can make many copies of mRNA to quickly make larger amounts of the desired protein.
