Answer:

Money in her purse is Rs. 500.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the money in her purse = Rs. x\\

Let the money in her Money box = Rs. y

As per question statement,

  • Double the money in her purse (i.e. 2 \times x) and add it to the amount in money box, she gets Rs. 1700.

2x+y=1700  ........ (1)

  • Triple the money in her purse (i.e. 3\times x) and add it to amount in money box (y), she gets Rs. 2200.

3x+y=2200 ....... (2)

To find: Money in her purse = ? i.e. x=?

Let us solve for x using the two linear equations.

We can use substitution method here i.e. find value of one variable from one equation and then substitute that value in other equation.

Using equation (1), we get the value of y as follows:

y=1700-2x

Now, let us put this value of y in equation (2) to find the value of x:

3x+1700-2x=2200\\\Rightarrow x+1700 = 2200\\\Rightarrow x=2200-1700\\\Rightarrow x = Rs.\ 500

Money in her purse is Rs. 500.

Solve the system of linear equations by substitution.

−2x−5y=3
3x+8y=−6
Sliva [168]
First you want to know what y or x is i chose y for this on

so the equation i'm going to use is -2x-5y=3
i want to solve for y

-2x-5y=3
+2x        +2x

-5y=2x+3
/-5   /-5  /-5
y=-2/5x+-3/5

Now that i solved for y we substitute our answer into the next equation to solve for x like this:

3x+8y=-6
3x+8(-2/5x+-3/5)=-6
3x+ -3.2x+-4.8=-6
-0.2x+-4.8=-6
          +4.8  +4.8
-0.2x=-1.2
/-0.2    /-0.2
x=6

After you know what x is you substitute it in for any of the equations that we started with. I picked 3x+8y=-6 to find y.

3x+8y=-6
3*6+8y=-6
18+8y=-6
-18      -18
8y=-24
/8     /8
y=-3

Since we know what x and y are we substitute it with any of the equations that we started with. i picked -2x-5y=3

-2*6-5*-3=3
-12- -15=3
3=3
so our solution (6,-3) works

I need help, please help me this is a quiz and I don't know the answer.
k0ka [10]
Typically, you plot independent (x) vs dependent (y). Also, we list the variables on a table as x on top and y below. In this situation the miles travelled would be the variable the researcher controls (the independent variable) and number the of gallons used would be what was measured (the dependent variable). A sandwich shop charges $3.75 for a sandwich with meat and cheese and $0.15 for each additional topping. You can spend at most $
ZanzabumX [31]

Answer: $3.75 + $0.15n ≤ $5.25

Step-by-step explanation:

$3.75 is the cost of the sandwich

$0.15 is the cost for each additional topping

$5.25 is the maximum amount you can spend

Ask yourself, how many additional toppings can you add before going over the total of $5.25. Since we don't know this value, it's a variable, n.
