Jason wanted to find out how he could increase the number of popcorn kernels that pop when cooked. He hypothesized that more ker

nels would pop if he used more oil. To test this, he placed 100 kernels of “Pop Rite’ popcorn into a popcorn popper that contained different amounts of oil. He used the following amounts of oil: 5 mL, 10 mL, 15 mL, 20 mL, and 25 mL He conducted the test 3 times for each amount of oil. He then counted the number of kernels that had popped. Each time he heated the oil for 2 minutes and cooked the popcorn for 4 minutes.

Answer:

This question is incomplete, it is asking to identify the following variables in the question:

Independent Variable: DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF OIL

Dependent Variables: NUMBER OF KERNELS THAT POPPED

Controlled Variables: TIME FOR POPPING, SAME BRAND OF KERNEL, SAME COOKING TIME

Explanation:

The independent variable of an experiment refers to the variable that the experimenter intentionally manipulates or changes for the purpose of effecting a measurable response in another variable (dependent variable). In this experiment, the independent variable is DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF OIL used because this is what Jason changes in the experiment.

Contrarily, the dependent variable is the variable that the experimenter measures in response to the independent variable. In this experiment, Jason measures the NUMBER OF KERNELS THAT POPPED from using different amounts of oil. Hence, the NUMBER OF KERNELS THAT POPPED is the dependent variable.

Controlled variables or constants are those variables that must be kept constant or unchanged throughout the experiment in order not to influence the findings of the experiment. In this case, the following variables were kept constant for all the groups: TIME FOR POPPING , SAME BRAND OF KERNEL (Pop rite), SAME COOKING TIME (4 mins).

Answer:

A = 1

B = 4

C = 5

D = 3

E = 2

F = 6

Explanation:

A) Peptide hormones are not lipid soluble hence known as lipophobic and cannot diffuse through cell membranes examples of peptide hormones include luteinizing hormones, thyroid stimulating hormones, insulin and follicle-stimulating hormones.

B) Steroid hormones can not stored in secretory vesicles because of their lipophilic nature.

C) Amino acid-derived hormone are the hormones which are derived from tyrosine and tryptophan.

D) Anterior pituitary lobe of Pituitary gland is true endocrine gland of epithelial origin.

E) Hypothalamus produce screates six hormones in which vasopressin is also synthesized.

F) Posterior pituitary is responsible for storage and release site for oxytocin

Blue Genotype BB Yellow Genotype YY What would be the Genotype for Blue and Yellow? A. BY, or YB B. GG C. Not Possible D. BuYe
Fittoniya [83]

Answer:

A. BY, or YB

Explanation:

This question is depicting a phenomenon in inheritance called CODOMINANCE, which is a type of non-mendelian inheritance in which two alleles of a gene both express themselves in that gene. In this question, the allele for blue color (B) is codominant with the allele for yellow color (Y).

This means that an individual that has a blue phenotype will possess the genotype BB while an individual that has a yellow phenotype will possess the genotype YY. Hence, in an heterozygous state in which both alleles combine to produce a simultaneous blue and yellow phenotype, the genotype will be BY or YB.

In the year 100, Ptolemy introduced the geocentric model of the solar system. By the year 1542,
Alecsey [184]

Answer: Ptolemaic system, also called geocentric system or geocentric model, mathematical model of the universe formulated by the Alexandrian astronomer and mathematician Ptolemy about 150 CE and recorded by him in his Almagest and Planetary Hypotheses. The Ptolemaic system is a geocentric cosmology; that is, it starts by assuming that Earth is stationary and at the centre of the universe. The “natural” expectation for ancient societies was that the heavenly bodies (Sun, Moon, planets, and stars) must travel in uniform motion along the most “perfect” path possible, a circle. However, the paths of the Sun, Moon, and planets as observed from Earth are not circular. Ptolemy’s model explained this “imperfection” by postulating that the apparently irregular movements were a combination of several regular circular motions seen in perspective from a stationary Earth.
