Answer:

c+p = 53

2.5c+1.5p = 105.5

p = 27

c= 26

Mrs. Johnson  earned 65

Mr Smith  earned 40.5

Mrs Johnson earned  24.50 more

Step-by-step explanation:

Let c = cookies sold

p = popcorn sold

The number of items sold is 53

c+p = 53

The total cost of the items sold is 105.50

The number of cookies sold times 2.50 plus the number of popcorn sold times 1.50 = 105.50

2.5c+1.5p = 105.5

System of equations:

c+p = 53

2.5c+1.5p = 105.5

Multiply the second equation by 10 to clear the decimals

10 *(2.5c+1.5p) = 10*105.5

25c+15p = 1055

Divide by 5

25c/5 +15p/5 = 1055/5

5c+3p =211

Multiply equation 1 by -5

-5(c+p)=-5*53

-5c-5p=-265

Add the equations

5c+3p =211

-5c-5p=-265

---------------------

-2p = -54

Divide by -2

-2p/-2 = -54/-2

p = 27

Now we need to find c

c+p = 53

c+27 = 53

Subtract 27 from each side

c+27-27 = 53-27

c= 26

Mrs. Johnson  earned the number of cookies times 2.5

c* 2.5

26*2.5 =65

Mr Smith  earned the number of popcorn times 1.5

p*1.5

27*1.5

40.5

Mrs Johnson earned 65-40.5 = 24.50 more

Answer: The ladder is 5.3 m long
Step by step solution
1. Draw out the scenario, ie a right triangle where the hypotenuse is the ladder, the wall is 4.5m and the angle the ladder and the ground makes 58 degree.

2. Soh, Cah, Toa
The wall is opposite, the ground is adjacent, and the ladder is hypotenuse
Sine (58) = 4.5/h

3. Solve for hypotenuse
h * sine (58) = 4.5
h = 4.5/sine (58)
h = ~ 5.3 m

An identification code is to consist of 2 letters followed by 3 digits. how many different codes are possible if repetition is p
Vedmedyk [2.9K]
I like the 'question mark' at the end:

26 letters (English), 10 digits (0,1,...9)

26*26*10*10*10 = 676000

Now, this was for LLDDD (Letter Letter Digit Digit Digit)

It seems this is the order they want. Other wise, one should multiply by all the combinations in the order: LDLDD, DLLDD, etc ... (10 combinations), but again it seems they want this LLDDD

So 676000

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lesya [120]
2x^{2} is a monomial (since it is all connected by multiplication) and since it is in the degree of 2, that makes it a quadratic.

-2 is a constant (since it doesn't have variables) and it is a monomial (since it is all connected by multiplication)

3x-9 is a binomial (since it has two terms, not connected by multiplication) and since it has x in the power of 1, that makes it a linear equation.

Finally, -3x^{2} -6x + 9 is a trinomial (since it has 3 terms connected by either addition or subtraction) and since the degree of the polynomial is 2, that makes it a quadratic.

HELP<br> Write an equation of a line passing through (-8, 6) and parallel to the line y=-4x - 1
MArishka [77]

The line is parallel so it has the same slope as the other line, -4.

Substitute the x and y variables with the given points and find the y-intercept.

(-8, 6)

y = -4x + b

6 = -4(8) + b

6 = -32 + b

6 + 32 = b

38 = b

So the equation is:

y = -4 + 38
