Alright.. so the operations would be multiplication and addition.
The reason for this is you're finding the amount the school got --24*8-- and the amount the homeroom got --24*3-- then add those to get the total he got.

Let's use the variable 't' to represent the total he collected.
We know that the school gets 8 for every book and he sold 24, so this can be represented with 8*24.
We also know that the homeroom gets 3 for every book, so 3*24. Both of these added will give you the total amount of money he earned, 't'.
So the sentence can be written as
t=8(24)+3(24).
t=192+72.
t=264.
So, we can see that the total he earned was $264.
If you look back at the equation, we know that the 8*24 represents the amount the school earned, which means that school earned $192.
The same goes with the amount the homeroom earned; we know that this is represented by 3*24, and thus the homeroom earned $72.
And that's it!!! (:

A math class has 3 girls and 9 boys in the seventh grade and 7 girls and 3 boys in the eighth grade. The teacher randomly select
vladimir1956 [14]

Answer:

7/40

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 3 girls+9 boys = 12 students in the 7th grade

P (girl in 7th grade) = girls/ total

                                = 3/12 = 1/4

There are 7 girls+3 boys = 10 students in the 8th grade

P (girl in 8th grade) = girls/ total

                                = 7/10

P(7th grade girl, 8th grade girl) = 1/4 * 7/10 = 7/40

Third-degree, with zeros of −5, −4, and 1, and a y-intercept of −15
VARVARA [1.3K]

Answer:

y = 3/4( x+5)( x+4) ( x-1)

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for the polynomial is

y = c( x- a1)( x- a2) ( x-a3)  where c is a constant and a1,a2,a3 are the zeros

We have zeros -5,-4 and 1

y = c( x- -5)( x- -4) ( x-1)

y = c( x+5)( x+4) ( x-1)

We have a y intercept of -15

That means x=0 and y = -15

-15 = c ( 0+5)( 0+4) ( 0-1)

-15 = c( 5) ( 4) (-1)

-15 = c( -20)

Divide each side by -20

-15/-20 = c

3/4 =c

The equation is

y = 3/4( x+5)( x+4) ( x-1)
