The sodium amytal test involves the injection of a small amount of sodium amytal into the carotid artery on one side of the neck
romanna [79]

The sodium amytal test involves the injection of a small amount of sodium amytal into the carotid artery on one side of the neck. This injection anesthetizes the hemisphere on that side for a few minutes.

A method that involves injecting a small amount of a barbiturate into the carotid artery on one side of the head to assess hemispheric functions, usually memory and language. The cerebral hemisphere that was injected selectively becomes impaired for 10 to 15 minutes during this operation.

Various cognitive tests are given while each hemisphere is seperately anaesthetized; deficiencies on these tasks imply that these functions are represented in the anaesthetized hemisphere. Prior to a temporal lobectomy, the Wada test may be utilised in cases with severe and uncontrollable epilepsy. Also known as the Wada technique, intracarotid sodium Amytal test (ISA), Wada dominance test, and intracarotid amobarbital procedure.

Why do scientists prefer to have more than one theory about something
Advocard [28]

Having one theory is setting a limit on your potential and the potential of the overall theory and subject you are working on. Having multiple theories gives you a broader idea and perspective of what is going on, and even though one may slightly contradict the other, it is okay because that is what theories are for.

To the point, scientists usually have more than one theory so that they can gain a broader perspective on the matter and maybe even increase the chance of being correct on the matter.

10. A body is found at 2:00 pm on New Year's Eve. The temperature of the liver registers 75.5° F. What is the
EastWind [94]

Given what we know about the correlation between the liver temperature of a corpse and the estimated TOD, we can conclude that the estimated time of death is approximately 10:30 pm of the night before.

How do we estimate the TOD?

 • This can be achieved using a mathematical formula.
 • The formula in question involves taking the normal body temperature of a living human and subtracting the liver temperature of the body.
 • The remaining is the difference in temperature.
 • Given that a body will lose roughly 1.5 degrees worth of heat per hour, we divide the remaining number by this to get the amount of hours since the death.
 • This leads us to the conclusion that this individual perished roughly 15.5 hours earlier.

Therefore, given the way in which we use the correlation between liver temperature and time to analyze and approximate a time of death, we can confirm that this individual will have perished at roughly 10:30 pm of the night before.
