So you would do 5*2x +5*-8 +15=-15
Then simplify so it would be 10x + -40 + 15 = -15
Then add -40 and 15 together
Then it would be 10x + -25 = -15
Then add 25 to -25 and -15
So it would be 10x = 10
And then divide 10 from 10 with would be 1 so x = 1

5(2x-8)+15=-15 (subtract 15 from each side)
5(2x-8)=-30 (divide both sides by 5)
2x-8=-6 (add 8 to each side)
2x=2 (divide both sides by 2)
x=1

Check your work
5(2x-8)+15=-15
5(2(1)-8)+15=-15
5(2-8)+15=-15
5(-6)+15=-15
-30+15=-15
-15=-15

Answer:

y - 10 = 5(x - 15)

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in point- slope form is

y - b = m(x - a)

where m is the slope and (a, b) a point on the line

Calculate m using the slope formula

m = (y₂ - y₁ ) / (x₂ - x₁ )

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (15, 10) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (16, 15)

m = \frac{15-10}{16-15} = \frac{5}{1} = 5

Using (a, b) = (15, 10), then

y - 10 = 5(x - 15)
