Answer:

Freezing point of solution =  - 2.82°C

Explanation:

Formula to solve this, if we assume complete ionization of salt.

AlNO₃ →  Al³⁺  +  3NO⁻       i = 4

Freezing point of solution = - (Kf. m . i - 0°C)

Freezing point of pure solvent - Freezing point of solution = Kf . m . i

Freezing point of pure solvent = 0°C

Kf for water = 1.86 °C / m

Let's convert the mass of solute to moles → 287 g . 1mol/ 88.98 g = 3.22 moles

m (mol/kg) → 3.22 moles / 8.50 kg = 0.379

Freezing point of solution = - Kf. m . i + 0°C

Freezing point of solution = - 1.86°C /m . 0.379 m . 4 →  - 2.82°C

Readme [11.4K]

Answer:

Can either be a solid, a liquid or a gas

Explanation:

A solvent can either be a solid, liquid or a gas. It is the carrier medium in a solution. It is the one in which the solute is dissolved.

Although quite unusual, a solvent might also be a solid. An important application of this can be seen in the production of alloys. Alloys are mixture of metals. To produce let’s say an alloy containing just two metals, the use of a solid solvent is needed. Here, one of the two metals is known as the base metal. It is this base metal that will serve as the carrier medium for the other metal

Coal can be converted to methane gas by a process called coal gasification. The equation for the reaction is the following: 2 C
zloy xaker [14]

Answer:

24 g of C are needed to produce 1mol of CH₄

Explanation:

The reaction is:

2C (s) +  2H2O (l) → CH4(g) + CO2 (g)

2 moles of carbon react with 2 moles of water in order to produce 1 mol of methane and 1 mol of carbon dioxide.

If we want to produce 1 mol of methane, we need 2 moles of C

Let's find out the mass → 2 mol . 12 g/1 mol = 24g
