<span> |6 – v| < 9 can be written as two separate inequalities:

+(6 - v) < 9, or -v < 3, or v > -3:  (-3, infinity)

-(6-v) < 9, or -6 + v < 9, or v<15:  (-infinity, 15)

These two intervals overlap:  (-3,15)</span>

If the radius of mars is about 13.7% of neptune's radius, what is the radius of neptune?
Gnesinka [82]

You said that                                 M is 13.7% of N

In algebraic notation                    M  =  0.137 N

Divide each side by  0.137 :      N  =  M / 0.137  =  7.3 M (rounded)

Online or in a real book, you can look up the radius of Mars.
Then write it in place of 'M' in this solution, and you'll have
an actual number for the radius of Neptune.

UNO [17]
<h2><u>Question</u><u>:</u><u>-</u></h2>

The shape of Joy’s room is a rectangle 540 cm long by 250 cm wide.

a. Work out the area of his room in Square meters.

b. How much does he pay to buy flooring for his room where flooring costs $ 40 per square meter

<h2><u>Question</u><u> </u><u>No</u><u>.</u><u> </u><u>a</u></h2>

Work out the area of his room in Square meters.

<h3><u>Given</u><u>:</u><u>-</u></h3>

  • Length of the room 540 cm = 540/100 m = 5.4m
  • Breadth of the room 250cm = 250/100 m = 2.5m

<h3><u>To</u><u> </u><u>Find</u><u>:</u><u>-</u></h3>

  • Area of the room.

<h3><u>Solution</u>:-</h3>

We know that:-

Area of a rectangle = (length × breadth)sq.units

Therefore,

Area of the rectangular room = (5.4 × 2.5) square meters

=> Area of the rectangular room = 13.5 square meters.

<h3><u>Answer</u><u>:</u><u>-</u></h3>

Area of his room is 13.5 square meters.

<h2><u>Question</u><u> </u><u>No</u><u>.</u><u> </u><u>b</u></h2>

How much does he pay to buy flooring for his room where flooring costs $ 40 per square meter

<h3><u>Given</u><u>:</u><u>-</u></h3>

  • Cost in per square meter = $40
  • Area of the room = 13.5 square meters (From question a)

<h3><u>To</u><u> </u><u>Find</u><u>:</u><u>-</u></h3>

  • Total cost of flooring

<h3><u>Solution</u><u>:</u><u>-</u></h3>

Flooring cost in 1 squre meter = $40

Flooring cost in 13.5 square meters = $(40 × 13.5) = $540

<h3><u>Answer</u><u>:</u><u>-</u></h3>

He pays $540 to buy flooring for his room.
