asthenia gravis are conditions that cause muscle weakness. Which of these statements is NOT true? In myasthenia gravis, acetylcholine is released, but the receptors on the junctional folds of the sarcolemma cannot receive the acetylcholine. Botulinum toxin impairs the release of acetylcholine from the presynaptic neuron. Both conditions are caused by an inability of the body to produce adequate acetylcholine. Both conditions affect normal activity at the neuromuscular junction.

Further explanation

Both conditions are caused by the body's inability to supply adequate acetylcholine.

Botulism may be a rare and potentially fatal disease caused by a poison produced by the bacterium botulinus. This disease begins with weakness, blurred vision, feeling tired, and difficulty speaking. this can be then followed by weakness of the arms, chest muscles, and legs. Vomiting, stomach swelling, and diarrhea also can occur. This disease usually doesn't affect consciousness or cause fever.

Botulism are often spread in several ways. The bacterial spores that cause it are common in soil and water. They produce neurotoxin when exposed to low oxygen levels and certain temperatures. Foodborne botulism occurs when food containing poisons is eaten. Botulism in infants occurs when bacteria develop within the intestine and release toxins. This usually only occurs in children but six months, because disease of the neuromuscular junction (MG) may be a chronic autoimmune disorder from neuromuscular transmission that leads to muscle weakness. The term Myasthenia is Latin for muscle weakness, and Gravis for severe or serious.

Myasthenia Gravis is one kind of autoimmune disorder. in line with the medical dictionary, autoimmune disorder itself may be a kind of disease within which antibodies attack their own tissues. disease of the neuromuscular junction can attack any muscle, but the foremost common attacks are muscles that control eye movements, eyelids, chewing, swallowing, coughing and facial expressions. The shoulders, hips, neck, muscles that control body movements and muscles that help with breathing also can be attacked.

Health Community in a very website defines disease of the neuromuscular junction as a chronic autoimmune disorder that leads to musculus weakness. Skeletal muscles are muscle fibers consisting of bundles or striations (striation of muscles) related to bone. disease of the neuromuscular junction causes rapid fatigue (fatigability) and loss of strength during activity, and improves after rest.

Answer:

Both conditions are caused by an inability of the body to produce adequate acetylcholine.

Explanation:

Botulism is a potentially fatal condition caused by the toxin of bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Early symptoms are weakness, slurred speech, blurred vision etc. It may lead to vomiting, abdominal swelling and respiratory failure if not treated. The toxin hinders the release of neurotransmitter acetylcholine due to which motor neurons are not able to send signals to muscle cells. Muscles are not able to function properly due to which paralysis occurs.

Myasthenia gravis is also a neuromuscular condition like botulism. But unlike botulism release of acetylcholine is not hindered here. The receptors for acetylcholine are destroyed or altered by body's own immune system. Acetylcholine despite being present is not able to relay the signal which leads to muscle weakness. Symptoms are almost similar to those of botulism.
