Properties:

The diagonals of a parallelogram always bisect each other.

The diagonals of a quadrilateral just intersect in the case of a convex quadrilateral.

The diagonals of a rectangle bisect each other. The diagonals are always equal.

The diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other at 90°.

For triangles you basically multiply them together, and the divide your answer by two. 

A= 1/2 b x h 
A= 1/2 7 x 9
A= 1/2 63
A= 31.5 (rounded up to 32)
