Answer:

\boxed{ \bold{  \huge{\boxed{ \sf{x = 2}}}}}

Step-by-step explanation:

\sf{5x - 4 =  - 3x + 12}

Move 3x to left hand side and change it's sign

⇒\sf{5x + 3x  - 4 = 12}

Move 4 to right hand side and change it's sign

⇒\sf{5x + 3x = 12 + 4}

Collect like terms

⇒\sf{8x = 12 + 4}

Add the numbers

⇒\sf{8x = 16}

Divide both sides of the equation by 8

⇒\sf{ \frac{8x}{8}  =  \frac{16}{8} }

Calculate

⇒\sf{x = 2}

Hope I helped!

Best regards!!

ANTONII [103]

Full question :

A man buys a certain number of oranges at 20 for Rs. 60 and an equal number at 30 for Rs. 60. He mixes them and sells them at 25 for Rs. 60. What is the gain or loss percent?

Answer:

4% loss(percentage loss on cost price)

Step-by-step explanation:

we will be employing algebra in solving this problem :

20 oranges at 60 Rs=60Rs/20 per orange=3Rs per orange

Say x oranges bought at 3Rs per orange=3Rsx

Equal number of oranges at 30 oranges for 60 Rs=60Rs/30 per orange=2Rs per orange

Say x oranges bought at 3Rs per orange=2Rsx

Total Cost Price = 3Rsx + 2Rsx = 5Rsx

He then sells all oranges at 25 for 60 Rs

Therefore price per orange=60/25=12/5Rs

since he sold x+x oranges(from the above calculations)

Total selling price=total oranges *12/5Rs=2x oranges*12/5Rs=24x/5Rs

Profit or loss=24x/5-5x=-x/5

therefore we have a loss =-x/5

Percentage of loss(on cost price)

=x/5÷5x∗100=

=1/25∗100=4%

ASAP! Guaranteed Brainliest for first decent answer
Gelneren [198K]

Answer:

First differences means take the ordered pairs in increasing order for their x coordinates (assuming the x's go by ones), then subtract each y (except the last) from the y that comes after it.  Keep doing that and you get the first differences.  (The second differences would be what you get if you then subtract each of the first differences from the one that came after it (TMI probably but ...)

Say the points were (1,3), (2,7), (3,11) and (4,15).  The first differences are

7-3 = 4

11-7 = 4

15 - 11 = 4  all 4.  This would also be the slope.  So that is the relationship - they are the same.
