The main purpose of the stanza is to show how the boy has changed. The narrator describes his memories as a boy when he used to go to the swimming hole. He has beautiful memories, and it makes him happy to remember them. However, he then says that time has taken its toll and that a boy is now an old man. What does it take for people to turn on each other?
tamaranim1 [39]

Answer:

This question is vague.

Explanation:

While turning on people is considered rude and almost childish, there are many reasons as to why people do it. Many times a lack of trust in one another. Leaving the relationship destroyed and a lack of empathy is missing.

Or taking another approach, scientifically, a person can turn on another the same way an animal would. If a survival instinct were to kick in, any togetherness would be left behind and your mental state would turn selfish. Putting yourself first over helping others.

Identify the tone of each speech excerpt.
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer:

1) d; 2) b; 3) a; 4) c are the correct answers.

Explanation:

The first speech can be considered logical because of the elements presented in a specific way; the supporting facts are also important to show confidence in the future.

The second one is patriotic and emotional since it defines what an American is using pathos, a rhetorical device that proves a point through emotions. In the excerpt, the speaker appeals to empathy as the main quality of an American.

Number 3 is indignant and intense since the main theme. The excerpt shows how the speaker is angry through the words chosen by him, and it also refers to "us" and "you," and how the group he belongs to is in disadvantage.

Inspiration and motivation are shown in the last excerpt; this is seen in the tone and the semantic field created by the speaker, who also refers to an inmense amount of work that has been done, and this is taken as a motivation to see what may happen in the future if this continues.
