Albert J. Beveridge was an American historian and US Senator from Indiana. He spoke to the US Senate in 1900 on the Philippines question. His opinion was that the Philippines were "territory belonging to the United States". Also he said that the US should not abandon its opportunity in the Orient. Beveridge was an imperialist, who thought that with the Philippines as a colony, the power that rules Pacific will forever be the American Republic.
