The Japanese considered that taking territories with rich resources would establish economic self-support and independence. At the beginning of the 1930s, Japan belligerently extended the territories winning across parts of China, attacking territories which were claimed by the Soviet Union. These all led United States to take action against Japan's aggressive actions in the Pacific.
