Why did Pennsylvania protest the whiskey tax?
s2008m [1.1K]
The correct answer here is B.
The Whiskey Rebellion of 1791, began because of the first tax law implemented during the presidency of George Washington. The tax was meant to apply to all alcoholic beverages but as whiskey was by far the most dominant US alcoholic product the tax became known as the "whiskey tax".

This did not sit well with the residents of Pennsylvania because firstly they were mostly farmers and they used their leftover products to distill whiskey. Whiskey was even used as a substitute for money as it served as bartering good between the residents. The people did not want to pay taxes on something they use to barter and create.

Which list of issue positions is most likely to be supported by the national leadership of the Democratic Party
tiny-mole [99]

Given the political views and inclinations of the Democratic political party, we can confirm that they would most likely support positions such as taxing the wealthy and expanding funding for education.

Based on the founding principles of the democratic party we can make the above assumption. Democratic platforms often look to:

 • Support social programs and lower-income aid programs
 • Establish or help labor unions
 • Increase infrastructure spending
 • Establish equal opportunity
 • Expand education funding
 • Increase taxes on the rich

and much more.

As can be inferred from the above list, the democratic party has traditionally been a party focused on aiding the general public and lower-income populations. Therefore, we can make a safe assumption that these are all positions on major issues that a democratic candidate would most likely support.

You have learned that earnings functions are one of the most investigated relationships in economics. These typically relate the
pantera1 [17]

If we want to be able to explain a particular economic behaviour, we can benefit from using a linear relationship among the variables that are involved in this description. However, we can also approach this question by using a linear relationship among log-transformed variables. This is called a log-linear model.

In this example, researchers most likely prefer a log-linear specification over a linear specification because the dependent variable, which are earnings, is not normally distributed. As error variance and the variance of the dependent variable are related, this makes it difficult to state that the error variance is normally distributed. By using logarithms, we are able to get a distribution that is closer to normal.
