Assuming : k=weight of kingfish, a=weight of amberjack, m=weight of white marlin, t=weight of tarpon
The sum of all four fish is 252, so k+a+m+t=252
the kingfish weighs twice as much as the amberjack, so 2a=k.
the marlin weighs twice as much as the kingfish, so 2k=m.
the tarpon weighs 5 times as much as the amberjack, so 5a=t.
Replace the terms k, m, and t: 2a+a+2k+5a=252. k=2a so 2a+a+2(2a)+5a=252. Combine like terms: 8a+4a=252, 12a=252. Divide both sides by 12: a=21. The amberjack weighs 21 pounds. From this, figure out the rest: k=2a=2(21)=42, m=2k=4a=4(21)=42, t=5(21)=105.
Concluding answer - The weights are: amberjack, 21 lbs; kingfish, 42 lbs; white marlin, 84 lbs; tarpon, 105 lbs.

. ∆ABC ~ ∆DEF. If ∠A=35° and ∠E=55°, what is the measure of ∠C?
noname [10]

Answer:

The measure of angle C is 90\°

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

If two figures are similar, then the ratio of its corresponding sides is equal and its corresponding angles are congruent

In this problem

m<A=m<D

m<B=m<E

m<C=m<F

we have that

m

m

so

m<B=m<E

m

Remember that

The sum of the interior angles in a triangle must be equal to 180 degrees

m

substitute values and solve for m<C

35\°+55\°+m

m

A light plane flew from its home base to an airport 255 miles away. With a head wind, the trip took 1.7 hours. The return
ryzh [129]
The speed from home base to airport was:
v=255miles/1.7h\ /:1.7\\v=150mph
The speed from airport to home base was:
v=255miles/1.5h\ /:1.5\\v=170mph
Average speed of plane was:
\frac{170mph+150mph}{2}=160mph
Average speed of wind was:
x\ -\ wind\ speed\ (mph)\\150+x=170-x\ /+x\\150+2x=170\ /-150\\2x=20\ /:2\\x=10
Answer: Average speed of plane was 160mph and average speed of wind was 10mph.

I hope I helped :D

What is the quotient when (x+3) is divided into the polynomial 2x2+3x-9
maks197457 [2]
Problem: 2x^2+3x-9
For a polynomial of the form, ax^2+bx+c rewrite the middle term as the sum of two terms whose product a·c=2·-9=-18 and whose sum is b=3.
Factor 3 out of 3x
2x^2+3(x)-9
Rewrite 3 as -3 plus 6.
2x^2+(-3+6)x-9
Apply the distributive property
2x^2(-3x+6x)-9
Remove the parentheses
2x^2-3x+6x-9
Factor out the greatest common factor from each group
Group the first two terms and the last two terms
(2x^2-3x) (6x-9)
Factor out the greatest common factor in each group.
x(2x-3)+3(2x-3)
Factor the polynomial by factoring out the greatest common factor, 2x-3
(x+3) (2x-3). So, the quotient is 2x-3
