Kathy, a neuroscience graduate student, is running the final experiments for her thesis, The Effects of Loud Noise on Auditory P

Answer:

Medulla - midbrain - thalamus.

Explanation:

Ear is one of the most important sense organs of our body that enable the organism to hear different sounds. Ear also maintain the equilibrium of the body.

The auditory nerve of the rodents passes through the brain and affect the primary and secondary cortices. The loud noise disturbs the auditory perception. The sound input through sensory nerves moves to the medulla of the brain. From the medulla, sound passes to the midbrain and finally into the thalamus prior reaching at the primary and secondary cortices of the brain.

Thus, the answer is Medulla - midbrain - thalamus.

Which statement correctly describes a chemical reaction?
xz_007 [3.2K]

Answer: Bonds between atoms break and new bonds form.

Explanation:

Bonds between atoms break and new bonds form. Chemical reaction is the rearrangement of atoms to form new substances. The bonds in the reactants first break so that atoms may be free to rearrange and form new bonds resulting in the products.

1. How does the principle of independent assortment apply to chromosomes?
Evgen [1.6K]
1) It is the chromosomes, however, that assort independently, not individual genes.

2) It tells you they're really far apart.
You see, there's this phenomenon called crossing over. Chunks of DNA get randomly swapped between homologous chromosomes. If two genes are close together they're usually swapped together and if they're far apart (say, on opposite ends) they're probably never going to be swapped together because half a chromosome doesn't normally cross over at once.

3) Sexual reproduction, because it results in offspring that combine alleles from two different individuals.

(Crossover is fine and dandy and you should mention it, but you'd get a C if you didn't mention that two different individuals are contributing genetic material to the offspring)

Describe the function of each organelle.
Elis [28]

Answer:

Cytoplasm: Fluid between the cell membrane and the nucleus. helps protect organelles

Nucleus: A part of the cell containing hereditary information and is responsible for growth and reproduction; the "command center" of the cell.

Ribosome: A small particle in the cell that can make proteins.

Endoplasmic Reticulum: A cell structure that forms a maze of passageways in which proteins and other materials are carried from one part of the cell to another.

Golgi Apparatus: A cell structure that helps make and package materials to be transported out of the cell or for storage inside the cell.

Lysosome: Cell organelle filled with enzymes needed to break down certain materials in the cell, such as large food particles or old parts of the cell. May be found only in animal cells.

Vacuole: Saclike storage structure in the cell. can store water, nutrients, and even toxic substances.

Mitochondrion: An organelle containing enzymes responsible for producing energy. (Metabolism/respiration)

Chloroplast: An organelle found in the cells of plants and some other organisms that captures the energy from sunlight and converts it into chemical energy (photosynthesis).

Cell membrane: The thin, flexible barrier around a cell; controls what enters and leaves the cell.

Cell wall: The structure outside of the cell membrane that is used to provide support and protection. Present in plants, algae, fungi, and many prokaryotes.
